Habitat

Considered native in remnant dry prairies and barrens, collected along the Menominee River (Menominee Co.) in 1839 and 1989, is also reportedly adventive in sandy open ground, waste places, roadsides, railroads, and fields.

Associated Plants

Only noted as collected along the Menominee River in the remnants of a prairie-related flora; likely occurs with little and big bluestem, blazing star, prairie willow, and numerous other prairie associates.

Management

Requires openings, and likely needs fire to persist within the remnant prairie landscape.
