College of Agriculture and Natural ResourcesUndergraduate Research Program The College of Agriculture & Natural Resources (CANR) invites undergraduates to submit an application for funds to engage in research with a faculty member. The research project could receive as much as $2,000 a semester. At least 80% of the funds will go to the student, in the form of a scholarship, hourly wage, conference travel, or stipend. __________________________________________________________ Conducting research gives students opportunities to investigate problems of interest to them while interacting with faculty and graduate students. Itstrengthens research, analytical, writing and speaking skills. The research experience broadens employment opportunitites, strengthens applications to graduate school, and helps define future career options. It could result in a journal article or a presentation at a national meeting. __________________________________________________________ Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors may apply. Applicants need at least a 2.5 grade point average, should be highly motivated, inquisitive, committed, and self-disciplined, with a drive to succeed. Students in CANR may work with any participating faculty in the University. A list of research projects already available, and the faculty research mentor, can be found at the MSU Venture web site (http://venture.msu.edu).You may also contact faculty with whom you would like to work to ask about projects they have or to share ideas that interest you to see if they would be willing to have you conduct research with them.
